Make Sean Hannity squirm in his pricey swivel chair

Dear Friends,

CHECK OUT THIS WEEK’S FORUM!

Seriously, it’s just shy of amazing that we’ve aired this program continuously for twelve years. The Fallon Forum began on one Iowa radio station and now airs on stations in Iowa, Missouri, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Idaho. We’re also a podcast, of course, because everyone and their crazy uncle’s got a podcast these days, right?

What’s so amazing about the Forum? If you’ve dared listen to a talk show on any large commercial station, you’ve noticed that close to100% of the conversation is far right. Genghis Khan right. Progressive voices are practically nonexistent.

Why? Thank presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. Yup. In the ’80s and ’90s, through repeal of the Fairness Doctrine and passage of the 1996 Telecommunications Act, our airwaves were basically sold to the highest bidders. Reagan and Clinton essentially orchestrated a public giveaway more impactful than what Donald Trump tried to do to our national parks.

The fact that The Fallon Forum and our community-owned partners even exist in such an environment is remarkable.

My fancy swivel chair. Needs new duct tape.

Remarkable, and a heck of a lot of work. We could sure use your help. Here are five things you can do to make Sean Hannity squirm in his pricey swivel chair:

ONE: Become a donor or monthly sustainer! Respond to this message with “Sure, I can pitch in!,” or something equally clever, and we’ll get you started.

TWO: If you’ve got a small business that’s locally-owned and Earth-friendly, promote it on our platform. The big stations have their corporate sponsors. We have a handful of little gals and guys offering important services in our communities. (IF YOU’RE IN CENTRAL IOWA, SUPPORT THEM!)

THREE: Sign-up for my weekly blog. We promise never to inundate you and will never, ever share or sell our list to anyone.

FOUR: Subscribe to The Fallon Forum’s podcast on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or your preferred podcast platform.

FIVE: “Like” our Facebook page.

“And who exactly,” you ask, “is behind this Fallon Forum of which you speak?” Five stalwarts make it happen: Shari Hrdina, Kathy Byrnes, Forrest Determann, Charles Goldman, and me. Four of us (including me) work as volunteers.

Wait, I’m missing someone — our guests! And we’ve had a lot of them, literally hundreds and hundreds, gosh, maybe thousands, over the years.

So yeah, we feel strongly that what we do here is unique and important. If you agree, I hope you’ll support our work to provide a voice to perspectives not allowed on most commercial radio stations. Thank you.
