Mowrer refuses to meet with Fallon
DES MOINES, IOWA – Today, talk-show host and former Iowa lawmaker Ed Fallon shared an exchange of messages with Congressional candidate Jim Mowrer, in which Mowrer refused to meet with Fallon.
“Wow,” said Fallon. “Not even willing to meet with a prospective constituent? Not interested in my endorsement, nor presumably my vote? That’s a unique approach to campaigning. I wonder how many other prospective voters Mowrer’s planning to blow off? No amount of money can buy a pathway to victory with that kind of hubris.”
Fallon has never met Mowrer, and has no idea what he might have said or done to earn such a response.
“Maybe Mowrer doesn’t like the issues I champion,” mused Fallon. “If that’s the case, he’s out of touch with the vast majority of Democrats and a healthy chunk of independent voters. For the record, his opponent, Desmund Adams, reached out to me asking to meet. And earlier this year, I had no trouble landing a meeting with Congressman David Young, even though we disagree on a lot of issues.”

Sept 30 – Fallon: “Hi Jim. I would like to meet with you in advance of endorsing a candidate in the third District. Let me know of your availability. Thanks. – Ed”
Oct 1 – Fallon: “And FYI, I hope to move on this within the next week or two, so look forward to hearing from you. Thanks – Ed”
Oct 3 – Mowrer: “Ed- thank you for reaching out. We apologize for the slow response. We checked with Jim and he will not be able to meet with you and will not be seeking your endorsement. He sincerely thanks you for the invitation to meet.”
Oct 6 – Fallon: “Three questions: 1. Who is this? 2. Beyond the question of an interview, Jim is not even interested in meeting with me? Do I have (sic) understand that correctly? 3. I am inviting all Congressional candidates to appear on my talk show. Is he interested in that, probably sometime next spring? – Ed”
Oct 16 – Fallon: “Hoping to have answers to my questions from October 6th soon. Thank you. – Ed”
